MassMEDIC to Host 2026 Medtech Impact Symposium & Gala, Honoring Founding President Tom Sommer
Annual event will convene industry leaders to discuss innovation, access to care, and the future of medical technology
BOSTON - The Massachusetts Medical Device Industry Council (MassMEDIC) will host its annual Medtech Impact Symposium & Gala on April 2, 2026, at the Renaissance Boston Waterfront, convening leaders from across the medical technology ecosystem for a day of industry dialogue, followed by an evening celebration recognizing innovation and patient impact.
The event also marks MassMEDIC's 30th year supporting the region's medical device industry and advancing collaboration across the healthcare and life sciences sectors.
The full-day Medtech Impact Symposium will bring together executives, clinicians, investors, and policymakers to explore how medical technology can deliver high-quality, affordable care while driving breakthrough innovation. Sessions will examine emerging technologies, digital health solutions, and device advancements, while exploring strategies to expand access, improve patient outcomes, and navigate the evolving policy and reimbursement landscape.
In the afternoon, attendees will break into specialized tracks focused on emerging technologies across external and wearable systems, interventional devices, and implantable or biointegrated solutions.
The day will conclude with the Medtech Impact Gala, an evening celebration honoring individuals whose work has advanced patient care and strengthened the medtech ecosystem.
During the Gala, MassMEDIC will present its annual Impact Award to Tom Sommer, the organization's first president, recognizing his leadership in helping establish and grow MassMEDIC and his longstanding contributions to the Massachusetts medical technology industry. Sommer played a foundational role in shaping MassMEDIC during its early years, helping build the organization into a leading voice for the medical device sector while fostering collaboration among innovators, manufacturers, clinicians, and policymakers across the region.
The Gala will also feature a powerful patient story highlighting the life-saving impact of medical technology. Hailey Yentz, a college athlete and member of ZOLL Medical's Anyone Can Help Game Changer Ambassador program, which engages athletes to promote CPR and AED awareness, survived sudden cardiac arrest thanks to the rapid use of an automated external defibrillator (AED). She will share her experience, the critical role the device played in saving her life, and how she is now helping raise awareness about the importance of AED access and bystander response.
The Medtech Impact Symposium & Gala is expected to draw hundreds of leaders from across the healthcare and life sciences sectors, reinforcing Massachusetts' role as a global hub for medical technology innovation.
